L'Oreal Preference Infinia VoxBox

On February 29th as I was sitting in the house there was a knock. I received my Influenster VoxBox. I couldn't wait to get started.

Received free for Review purposes from Influenster
This is the box that was delivered to me. Very nice looking box.

So I started my prep work and making sure that I had someone here to help me. I don't have short hair so doing the colour myself isn't easy.

So all my prep work for my hair was done (cleaned the day before the colour) and I got my assistant over to help (my 22 year old daughter makes a great assistant)

So this is what came in my kit. 2 boxes of dye. (I just used one as my hair isn't thick as it used to be)

Superior Preference Infinia in Red Mahogany I5R. It is darker than my original colour but that is part of what I was hoping for.

So this is my natural colour other than the Deep Red at the top. That is what was left from my last Dye.

I have tricky hair that can cause a blotchy set in my colour and the main reason that I tend to stick to my natural colours.  I love my Red hair and has taken my this many years to embrace it I don't want to loose it to Silver too soon.

Ok so it is dye time. We have all the glorious product in my hair. This took the complete bottle of colour.

Peroxide level is 20% so if you are looking for something with a lighter level this is not the one you are looking for. I was convinced that the 20% in this one was going to cause the blotchy application again.

You will see the results.

So here is the fresh cleaned hair waiting to dry to see how everything went.

So far, so good.
 View from the side
So here we are drying up. Colour is rich

I have no Blotches! I love the colour and cannot wait to see how it is in 2 weeks.

After a week

So the colour has been in for just over a week now. As you can see it is doing the same thing all dyes have been doing to me after time.

I look like I have used 2-3 different colours in my hair and not in a blend but it is blotching again.

As I stated earlier in this post, They use a peroxide level of 20. If you are just colouring your hair (darker or adding a darker colour) you do not need to strip your hair.

I am honestly wondering when or IF someone is going to make a hair colour that is designed specific for those colouring not altering their colour.

After Colour Refresh

So this is just after the Colour Refresh. I still have patchy colour. This dye isn't for a Natural Redhead that only covers grey.

I do not think I am satisfied with this product by any means.

Here is the before refresher and after. As you can see it does punch up the colour but it doesn't do anything to rectify the colour issue that is going on.

Broadway imPress Unimpressed

So I received some Broadway imPress nails. I thought: 'This is great. I don't have to go to the salon to get the length I need/want'.

Then I tried them. Ok preparing the nails wasn't too hard. Cleaned with alcohol wipe. Found my sizes. Put them on. So far so good. Waited about 30 minutes or so before doing anything major with my hands.

Fast forward 2.5 hours. I am working on the computer and off comes one of my nails. Tried to put it back on and had to use GLUE. Ok I am rough with my hands. 30 minutes later and the same one on the other hand came off. Glue to put it back on.

Fast forward 2 more hours and I am doing some repairs on clothes and I crack one of the nails.

This was just the first day. Not even 5 hours.

I tried the second set about a week ago and the same issues with them.

I also found that if you have a flatter nail bed these are not the product for you. Might be good for a day or 2 but no more than that as they start to pull on the natural nail and it doesn't feel comfortable.

Would I use again? I don't think so. My nail wraps at least let my natural nail remain in natural position. Stay in place. If I need nails. Guess a Home Manicure will work.

Child's Leprechaun Hat - Part 1

So recently my mother brought me a bag of yarn she had left over around that she wouldn't use again. I saw the Emerald green of this yarn and my mind started searching for something to make. This is what I came up with

I did do up a pattern but would like to make sure there is no errors and maybe some more sizes. What does everyone think?

Little Lady trying it on for the first time. She loves it.
She is such a doll. If I do say so myself ;)

Pattern will follow after writing and testing is done. TY

Lost

No I haven't been. I have been immersed in the land of yarn and crochet. I entered into a local fair for Labor Day week-end this year. I won 4 ribbons for 4 entries.

I have opened my Etsy shop and am taking orders and crocheting up a storm.

My store can be located HERE. All items on my page can be created in any choice of colors, sizes.

I will be adding more here as well as a direct link to the store so if you are interested in anything you just need to contact me and I will do my best to assist you.

Payments will be by PayPal and satisfaction is guaranteed.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look.

This is just on of the items that I have worked on and completed recently

Floppy Bunny Hat

So this is a Floppy Bunny Hat. Was going to make it for the DD but unfortunately it was too small for her head. And too small for my God-Daughter as well. But that is ok. I am making another one already and it is almost done.

I used one of her dolls to hold the hat while I took the pictures.

I think it is very cute and can't wait to display one on my own model.  What do you think?

18.2.12

Waterfall Slouch Hat

So I have made a few hats with this pattern. I love it. So has everyone that has seen it. My oldest daughter had said to me that she would wear the hat if it was in a color or pattern she liked. So off to the different pages to find her a yarn for the hat. Well Bernat had the yarn she liked. In the Mosaic line. I had been thinking Ninja for her hat as she likes blacks and greys. Well it had a purple in it and she wasn't into the purple. So we looked again and Waterfall jumped out at us. I asked her and she loved it.

So when I set out to get the supplies for the Horse Bonnet I picked up the ball that I needed for this.

I am so loving the way the colors are blending in this hat. She likes it too

2.2.12

Horse Bonnet with Jewels

So I got a request for a horse bonnet with some jewels. So I did some research, looked at one that had been purchased and set out on my way.

So this is what I have so far. Just putting the bands on it for the other color this is Pale Yellow from Red Heart Super Saver. There will be Hot Pink and a Petal Pink will also be used.

Have some heart crystals that I will be putting on that glimmer when they catch the light.

Stay tuned for more.

11.2.12

So I have completed the Horse Bonnet. Here are some of the images of the starting items and completed item.

So this is the items that I started with. The first picture is everything. The Pale Pink and Pale Yellow are from Red Heart. The Hot Pink is from Patons. And the Gems are a Clear heart that glistens in the light.
These next 2 images are the Gems at a closer view so that you can see the way they glisten in the light. There is the close up image to see the hearts and the far image to see the way they look in the light.
I hope the young girl likes what I have chosen for her.
This is the finished item. I created the ears and machine sewed them on. . I am very impressed by how it turned out.

Just waiting to see if the young lady liked it. Could possibly end up with some sales from this as well.

I loved the finished item.

15.1.12

Aura Stripes

This is a slouchy hat that I am working on. I am about 85% at this point. Still have enough yarn left to make a pair if mittens.

So the hat is finished. Working on the mitts at this time. Loving this yarn so much.

12.2.12

So here is the finished hat with the mitts over 75% complete. What do you think of them so far.

I am also loving the crochet hook you see there. It was made for me by a swap-bot friend. I just love it. To the point of either getting more, learning how to make, or swap for more of them.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year everyone. I completed 22+ projects over the course of a year. That is amazing for me. I also have a few that I am still working on.

I have met some wonderful people over this past year. From Swap-Bot.com and from The Crochet Crowd. Mikey is 'da bomb' when it comes to working with his hands. I am so glad I got a chance to meet him and work with him.

Looking forward to meeting up with him again at the next Festivals. My year has been so creative and full of items from all over the country.

I am loving my Swapping friends as well as everyone else I have met in my Creative Circles.

Happy New Year again and I hope it is a creative year for you as well.

Rainbow Sweater

This is the sweater I have started for my nephew Raistlin (Elmo). I love the colours of this yarn. It is the new Mosaic by BERNAT. It feels like a cotton rather then an acrylic and is just so light yet warm. This is going to go nicely with the Rainbow Brite Star blanket I have made for him already.

This is going to be one of the Christmas presents from me. I started on this the day after I received the yarn on my way home from Creativ Festival.

I worked with Michael Sellick from
The Crochet Crowd. He is the one that
introduced me to this wonderful product.

If you notice the Jelly Belly Tin in the background it is holding my stitch markers/paper clips and it is a Tin. I love it as well.

11.15.11

Completed the sweater next to buttons but have a bag of some that would be perfect, different colours and all the same shape. Thanks to a swapper I have met.

I hope it fits at Christmas as it is for a 6mth old and he is growing like a weed. 2mth old as of Sun and is getting to be a big boy. Can't wait to meet him and spoil him in person.

I just love this one so much. I love the way the colours lined up. Had to work the yarn a little bit but not much.

This will go so well with the Rainbow Brite Star blanket I have made for him already. With the deeper colours it is suitable for a boy or a girl, and perfect colours for fall and winter.

12.8.11

Rainbow Brite Star Blanket and Blue

These are 2 of the 3 star blankets I have done.

The first one is a Bright Rainbow style for my sister and her new baby. My Nephew Raistlin will be the envy of the Day care with this blanket.

I made a 2nd one and don't have pictures of it. I made it as a gift for someone from Swap-Bot. A wonderful giving woman. I received some templates for learning to smock and am on my way with that.

The 2nd blanket is for a swap for an item for my oldest Daughter. She is a fan of the Heath Ledger Joker so my partner is making her one. Just hope she likes it.

6.6.11

'Rocket' Light Baby blanket

Finished this in a week-end. Just a basic variation of the granny square. I think somewhere it might be called a Lemonade Stitch but not sure.

I had a blast making this one and didn't even realise till I went to put in my 3rd colour on another scrap wool baby blanket.

Getting some of my stash used up and this time was very cute...or at least I think so

10.3.11

Christening Set

Started a Christening Set on 24-2-11 and it is coming along perfectly.

I am almost done the gown. It is so light and airy. With a light lining done it will be perfect for any time of year.

I think I know who I am making it for but we never know. I might find something else that I like after getting this one finished...

Unfortunately I will have to find something else to make for my daughter for her Baptismal as these patterns don't go up to her size and her father and I have stalled on the decision...mixed families...gotta luv us

1.3.11

Knitting Looms

So I picked up a set of knitting looms the other day. I have been making a few hats with it for various people. I have been looking at various patterns for them so that I can try to make lots more stuff.

I am having fun with them. The husband is willing to try his hand at them once I have mastered a few things on it to teach him.

I have been having fun playing with the youngest, starting potty training and then my crafts. I am one busy stay at home mom, and I love it

24.2.11

Hop Hop

This is the first Easter gift I did for my youngest. She was just playing with it going 'Hop Hop'

My mother made a version of this same toy for me that many years ago but it was a puppet not a doll

23.2.11

Baby Cocoon

This is the baby cocoon that I am making.

I started this yesterday between other projects and household work.

Being a stay at home mom can be great...get to spend time with the most important people in my life and do what I love to do...take care of them

Finished this last night and then did the little cap to go with today...

now to find a little one to make sure of the size.

Charity Baby Blanket

This is the blanket that I did up for Craft for the Cure. I made it up with scrap worsted weight yarn that I had.

I think I did a great job on it...now to send it to Walkerton to Mikey for The Crochet Crowd.

Joee kept trying to play with it thinking it was another blanket for her to play with...she loves her blankets

16.2.11

Ok so today I have worked on the 2 blankets I have on hook. I haven't started anything new, need to get some of my current projects done and on their way.

So the one blanket is the baby blanket in blue on the baby items page, the other is a scrap blanket for a baby. It is going to be donated to a hospital for a premie to go home.

I have to find a way to fund this love for yarn that I have. Gives me something to do with my time when I am home...which is most of the time.

14.2.11

I received my set of crochet hooks today. I ordered them last week as I noticed that I didn't have many of the steel ones that I needed for some of the things I am thinking of making, and my set is mostly mismatched

I also got myself 2 books with different sock patterns to try out (now to just get the wool for them)

I now have the hook that I need for some of the baby items I want to make as well as the hooks for almost everything else...

Now to get more wool...Bahahahaha

Welcome to my page

Hello all. From Belleville, Ontario here but have been both east and west. To this point love the west (sorry east).
I just picked crocheting up again after a long time of nothing or very sporadic use of my hooks. Only had a limited hooks to begin with. I have finally ordered myself a complete set. Every time I am in my local craft store they happen to be out of stock.
In the last couple of years I have completed quite a few items (not all pictures available yet). I guess the new addition to my family and then all the ones that are coming has finally inspired me to continue.

2 of my inspirations...2 of the most beautiful women I know...would have it any other way.

These 2 girls keep me on my toes and busy.
